1 WED

During the day, the Badger Festival is a huge success! Food and fun is had by all. There is even a pancake breakfast for the town organized by Susan Bones and Stella Chambers.

At around 11pm, during the Weird Sisters (surprise!) closing set in Town Square, a scream rings out as Louisa Macnair bursts through the crowd having just discovered Xavier Orpington’s body just inside the alley between Golden Apples Market and Higher Grounds. He appears to have been strangled with his own tie. The music abruptly ends, help is called for while people panic. Eventually, Mayor Smith steps up on stage and advises everyone to remain calm.

Hit Wizards and a team from Magical Forensics arrive from London, the area is warded off, and everyone present must provide their name and answer questions about anything suspicious they might have seen. The crowds are released to return to their homes at around 3am.

2 THU

Happy birthday, Eloise Midgen!

For the first time in three years, the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts is overshadowed in the media. All anyone can talk about is the murder of Xavier Orpington in the sleepy little town he was trying to bring out of obscurity. The press descends on Helga’s Hill and rumors fly about town as people speculate, both on and off the record, about who the killer could be.

3 FRI

10 FRI

As paranoia in town grows, a fight breaks out in the Grotto when someone accuses Terence Higgs of acting suspiciously.

11 SAT

Helga’s Heroes v. Hogsmeade at home. The match draws unprecedented crowds.

14 TUE

Mayor Smith’s offices are broken into and ransacked.

16 THU

Barney Dunstan’s cousins from Wiltshire send baskets of baked goods from their bakery to help the denizens of Helga’s Hill keep their chins up. Taliesyn Robards, Veronica Smethley, and Megan Jones volunteer to deliver the baskets to each home in town. The note on each basket from Dunstans Bakery reads, “Just something to brighten your day! Don’t eat it all at once!” Ophelia Selwyn eats it all at once anyway.

There is no evidence to support this, but it is so sensational that both the WWN and the Daily Prophet pick up the theory by day’s end.

11 TUE

Residents of Helga’s Hill begin wearing pink or blue ribbons on their chests to denote whose side they have taken in the Wickersham/Davies divide. No one knows where they came from. Later it is revealed that Sylvie Fawcett distributed them for a lark.
